Hi Guys,
I have heard a few times about people substituting Brown Bread in place of kibble.
Anyone know much about Brown Bread for dogs?
I hear a lot of the running dog guys use it?

I have used brown bread for my dogs since 1981,I used to get it for free back then as it was overspill out of the bread tins, but now I got to pay ,just like everyone else !!,I have always fed meat as a staple diet, with a handfull of brown bread as roughage, not really a lover of grains for dogs but it is needed when feeding raw meat as it tightens the dog up,the dog is only in as good condition as its gut,I also use carrots too,the carrotine is an aid for the workings of a good digestive system,I must say that all my dogs are in the best condition possible, and I believe brown bread plays a major part to my on going diet, which I have now used for 30 yrs.

Hi Les, long time no speak ! the average size GSD will need between 4/6 slices a day, best if you switch on the oven for 10mins,place it on the shelf, turn off the oven, let it dry out ,it will break up in your hands, this is for 2 reasons,1st to keep your dog nice and tight as you know meat loosens them up abit,2nd it breaks down the additives in the bread, like I said not keen on the grains but got to have them to keep the dog right.

Thanks for your input Darren.
I have given my dogs a few slices of brown bread since I first started this thread. Can't say I notice any difference to be completely honest but my dogs don't seem to mind.
Switching to raw 2 years ago was the best thing I ever did!
